A photographic exhibition by Amnesty International
13 actresses and actors against the death penalty
Open to the public, 8th June, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, a photographic exhibition by Amnesty International. 13 actresses and actors pose for "La camera scura" supporting the campaign against the death penalty in the world: Luca Argentero, Giulia Bevilacqua, Carolina Crescentini, Sabrina Impacciatore, Peppino Mazzotta, Giulia Michelini, Ana Caterina Morariu, Filippo Nigro, Lara Okwe, Vittorio Emanuele Propizio, Primo Reggiani, Dino Santoro and Gianmarco Tognazzi.
The show, with photos by Angelo Di Pietro and the art direction of Mario Vaglio, can be visited until 20th June and is part of the project "Sono contro la pena di morte perché..." ("I'm against the death penalty because...") created by the Italian section of Amnesty International. The admission is free. The exhibition has been made possible through the collaboration of the IED, European Institute of Design and the contribution of the Regions of Tuscany and Campania and the European Union.
The aim of the project is to create awareness about the brutality of the death penalty.
The unifying theme of La camera scura is the stencil, a recognizable and an highly visual impact technique which is popular among teenagers: stylized drawings made with a simple cardboard mask and spray.
In each shot an actor performs as an inmate condemned to death telling - through a stencil placed on the wall of the cell - a story, dealing with a specific aspect related to the death penalty, associated with a case followed by Amnesty International.
