S8ZERO/melting pot
The Argentine sculptor, Gloria Argelés (Cordoba 1940), presented the works with which she launched her new area of study: life-sized figures, standing still or walking, made of wire mesh, and lit in such a way as to project their shadows onto the walls of the exhibition space. The images seemed to have been taken from the present city landscape, where men and women rush by without stopping, becoming ever more immersed in an icy solitude.
The exhibition also displayed her Grande divano from 1980 and the polychrome wood Hombre from 1994.
Exhibition curated by Maria Grazia Tolomeo.
Mounted by Enzo Serrani.
Catalogue edited by Maria Grazia Tolomeo, with an interview between the curator and the artist and texts by Enrico Crispolti and Stefano Malatesta, documentation edited by Graziella Gnozzi, PdE Edizioni in collaboration with Castelvecchi Arte, Rome 2001.
