The photographic image has always encounered art and the museum world at the crossroads between reproduction, representation and appropriation. The history of art and of its preferred venues has been constantly revisited through photographic interpretation: reviewing some of these experiences allows us to gauge the different interpretations of art heritage's identity and social and cultural role, revealing the complex layers of meaning that underpin the seeming simplicity of photographic recording.

Fabio Severo, a journalist, has written about photography, the cinema and visual culture for a variety of different Italian magazines including, ha Il Tascabile, IL Magazine, Rivista Studio and pagina99. He ran Hippolyte Bayard, a blog devoted to contemporary photography, for a number of years. With Tommaso Bonaventura and Alessandro Imbriaco he co-authored a photographic project entitled Corpi di Reato. Un'archeologia visiva dei fenomeni mafiosi nell'Italia contemporanea.
