What is the future of biodiversity and why is it so important for us? The wonder that we feel when we look at other living creatures has been one of our biggest incentives for studying them, understanding them and protecting them. This has enabled us to discover that, through natural selection over millions of years, organisms have developed an incredible diversity of solutions for responding to the challenges set by the environment in which they live. But what have we taken from, and what can we learn from, other living creatures in order to improve the quality of our own lives in the future? These are the issues that Elena Gagliasso, a philosopher of science, and Maria Vittoria Modica, a biologist, will be discussing in the course of this encounter.
