Nemesis of love and anarchy (Baldini+Castoldi)

21 february 2025
Reading concert with musical readings and performance by 'A67 and Cristina Donadio (1 hour and 30 minutes). Curated by Daniele Sanzone.

The musical repertoire of ‘A67 intertwines with the stories from the anthology Nemesis of Love and Anarchy, published by Baldini+Castoldi. These stories are inspired by the songs from the band's latest album, Nemesi, produced by Elisabetta Sgarbi’s Betty Wrong.

Nemesis of Love and Anarchy is an amphibious project, capable of existing independently across different and separate artistic worlds. It represents a crossing of boundaries that has taken ‘A67 into unexplored territories, creating a new and unexpected synergy between music and literature. This duality is reflected both in the album and in the book itself, which is structured in two parts. The first part gathers short stories by various authors (Brun, Cacciapuoti, Carrino, de Silva, Diawara, Ferré, Fortuna, Gehnyei, Grittani, Maran, Marino, Menna, Ossorio, Rovelli, Parrella, Remmert, Solla, Varriale). The second part includes the original Neapolitan lyrics of ‘A67’s songs that inspired these stories, along with their translations.

Nemesi is the sixth album by the band from Scampia, returning with a record that blends rock and blues sounds while incorporating elements of rap and poetry slam. The album was entirely recorded in Paris at Studio STAR of Université Paris-Saclay.

"Nemesis" should not be understood in its common association with revenge but rather in its classical meaning as the personification of justice—the Greek goddess capable of righting all wrongs and healing the wounds in our hearts. This theme is vividly represented in the album and book cover artwork by the renowned artist Francesco Clemente. Nemesi is a wish, a call for change and movement, an unstoppable force that drives people to unite in the fight for their rights against all selfishness—aware, as William S. Burroughs once wrote, that "the most dangerous thing a man can do is remain still."

‘A67
Born in Scampia as a reaction to severe social hardship, ‘A67 have developed a highly original musical approach, engaging in dialogue with cinema and literature while blending diverse artistic expressions. The band consists of Daniele Sanzone (vocals), Enzo Cangiano (guitar), Gianluca Ciccarelli (bass), and Mirko Del Gaudio (drums).
